The entryway sets the tone for the whole home and it takes the most daily abuse: keys, mail, bags, shoes, and everything in between. Here's the reset order that works.
Minute 1–5: Clear and sort
Everything off the console. Three piles: belongs here, belongs elsewhere, belongs in the bin.
Minute 5–10: Give every daily item a fixed home
Keys and pocket items get a catch-all dish. Coats and bags get hooks — mounted at the height you actually use, not the height that looks symmetrical. Mail gets one holder, not the counter.
Minute 10–15: Add the two finishing layers
A mirror doubles the light and gives you the last-look moment on the way out. Below it, keep exactly one decorative object — a small vase or a lamp for evenings. More than that and the surface stops functioning.
The test of a good entryway isn't how it looks styled — it's whether it still looks composed on a rainy Tuesday. Fixed homes for daily items are what make that happen. Start with the entryway edit.
